Every pet deserves a portrait
For centuries, portraits were for kings, queens, and the very important. We think the one who greets you at the door, steals your spot on the couch, and knows exactly when you need a head on your knee belongs on that list.
Velvet Ruff is a small, independent studio in Cortez, Colorado. We turn everyday photos of pets into portraits worth hanging: noble Renaissance gentlemen in velvet and lace, crowned royals on their thrones, soft watercolors, and bright 3D cartoon characters.
How we work
We're upfront about our process. Each portrait starts with your photo and is created with AI image tools, then checked by a real person against your photo. We look closely at the things that make your pet your pet: the shape of the ears, the color of the eyes, the patch over one eye, the crooked whisker. If it doesn't look like them, we fix it or start over.
You see a proof before anything is printed, and we keep revising until you love it. Then our print partner prints your portrait on canvas in the USA and ships it to you, free anywhere in the US.
What we care about
- Likeness first. A beautiful painting of the wrong dog isn't a gift. Your pet's face comes first.
- Honesty. Clear prices, clear timelines, and no surprises at checkout.
- Care. Many of our portraits honor pets who have passed. We handle every photo with respect.
